DC WOMEN’S FOOD FEST SEPT 23-30, 2020

MORE THAN 40 WOMEN-OWNED FOOD BUSINESSES TO PARTICIPATE

(Washington, DC – September 15, 2020) More than 40 women-owned food businesses will celebrate Women’s Food Fest www.womensfoodfest.com September 23-30 with each business offering specialized options of food, drinks or products to

support one another, take collective action, and help each other survive the present economic and health crisis.

Washington DC's Ruth Gresser (Pizzeria Paradiso), Fiona Lewis (The District Fishwife, On Toast) and

Micheline Mendelsohn (Good Stuff Eatery, We, The Pizza, Santa Rosa Taqueria) worked together to

create Women's Food Fest, organizing with over 40 women in the area who have made their careers in

the food industry.

The Women's Food Fest is led by the DC chapter of the James Beard Foundation Let’s Talk forum, to

which 15 women restaurateurs belong.

As committed members of their community, the group will also donate 700 meals via a select

combination of charitable DC area organizations during the week-long event.

A variety of highlighted menu items and specials will be offered. One of Ruth Gresser’s Pizzeria Paradiso

options highlights dinner for 2 - $35 (2 individual pizzas and 2 appetizers of your choice) Fiona Lewis’

District Fishwife will serve Fresh Albacore Tuna Nachos $10, Micheline Mendelsohn’s Good Stuff Eatery

will feature a handmade burger, hand cut fries and handspun shake for just $13.

Started in Chicago, Let’s Talk was spearheaded by Rohini Dey, Ph.D. owner of Vermilion restaurant,

who runs the program across ten cities within the James Beard Foundation Women’s Leadership

Programs. Rohini is a Trustee of the JBF and Chairs their Women's Entrepreneur Leadership Program.

Let’s Talk has connected 150 women restaurateurs nationwide. "It's been incredibly gratifying to come

Together and back each other at the most brutal time our industry has ever faced,” says Rohini, “We

plan to continue our collective action and hope DC will rally and help it's intrepid women business

owners survive."
